Allen’s Star Sophomore Wideout: Zach Williams
Zach Williams is a 2029 recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Allen High School. Last season before transferring to Allen, Williams put the country on notice by catching 88 passes for nearly 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns during his freshman campaign at Bishop Lynch (TX). His phenomenal season earned him MaxPreps Second Team Freshman All American honors as well as a spot on Rivals Freshman All American Team. It’s no surprise that schools across the country such as LSU, Florida, Oregon and many more are taking notice and already extended offers.
Who are some role models in your life?
My biggest role models are definitely my mom and dad. The sacrifices they make for me every single day don’t go unnoticed. They’ve always been in my corner no matter what, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted. At the end of the day, I’m just blessed to call them my parents, and everything I do is to make them proud.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
NBA YoungBoy, for sure. His music gets me locked in every time. Once those headphones go on, it’s straight business. It helps me flip that switch and get in my zone before kickoff.
What are the strengths of your game?
I’d say my route running, my speed, and my blocking. I take pride in being a complete receiver. I want coaches to know I’m not just out there to catch touchdowns—I’m going to do the little things too. If that means blocking for my teammates or making the tough plays, I’m all in.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
Getting my first offer, no doubt. That’s a feeling I’ll never forget. It showed me that all the early mornings, late nights, and hard work were finally paying off. It was a blessing, but I know that’s just the start, so it’s back to work.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
I’d probably say my best friend, Ty Snell. We’ve been pushing each other for a long time, and iron sharpens iron. Competing with somebody who’s always trying to get better makes you level up too.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Keep your head down and grind. Don’t get caught up in what everybody else is doing. Stay where your feet are, trust God’s timing, and keep working. The work you put in when nobody’s watching is what’s going to separate you from everybody else. Preparation is everything.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d have to say Turks and Caicos. It looks peaceful, and I’d love to experience it one day with my family. It’d be a great place to relax after putting in all that work.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was 7 years old. Ever since then, football has been a huge part of my life. I fell in love with competing, getting better every day, and being part of something bigger than myself.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
Stefon Diggs. I’ve always looked up to how he carries himself and how clean his route running is. I’d love to pick his brain, learn from him, and hear what it took for him to reach that level.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
Probably seeing Makai Lemon score a touchdown right in front of me. That was cool to witness in person. Watching somebody make a play like that up close gave me chills and made me even hungrier to be on that stage one day.
