Javonte Johnson-New Mexico Small Forward

Javonte Johnson was born in, Colorado Springs, Colorado and played Small Forward at Cheyenne Mountain High School. Johnson is ranked as the 2nd best recruit in Colorado and is ranked Top 40 at his position. He is committed to play at New Mexico this fall.

Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?

Growing up I was inspired by my dad, but some NBA players I like to watch are Lebron, Paul George, and Zach LaVine.

Lil Baby, Polo G, Pop Smoke, and Gunna

What is your offseason training like?

My offseason training focuses a lot on my strength and explosiveness, but also skill development.

What is your favorite memory of your high school career?

Scoring 50 points in a game

What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?

My impact on both sides of the floor and my leadership

What made New Mexico stand out from other schools?

I fit in with the system and play style. I will be able to come in and make an impact right away. The fan base for New Mexico basketball is super strong and it will be fun playing in that type of environment every night.

What do you want to accomplish on and off the court during your time at New Mexico?

During my time at New Mexico I want to win a conference championship and compete for a national championship in March. I also want to take in as much knowledge as I can to help me reach my goal of playing in the NBA, but mainly I just want to be a leader and a role model on and off the court for kids locally and also future Lobos.

Lebron James

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

Watching Lebron and the Cavs come back 3-1 in the finals
