Midlothian Heritage’s Star Junior Tackle: Wyatt Wagner

Wyatt Wagner is a 4 Star recruit who plays Offensive Tackle at Midlothian Heritage High School. Wagner is ranked as the 191st best recruit in the class of 2028 and is ranked as a top 25 Offensive Tackle in the class as well. In addition, Wagner is listed as a top 30 recruit in the state of Texas and is listed as the #4 Offensive Tackle in the state of Texas. He holds offers from schools such as LSU, Texas and USC.

Who are some role models in your life?
The role models in my life would be my dad and my older brother. I admire both of them as men and strive to have the same character and qualities that they have.

What artists do you listen to pregame to get you hyped up?
Pregame, I’m usually blasting Pantera or Slipknot to get fired up.

What are the strengths of your game?
My strengths come from my length and athletic ability. Those have been my biggest advantages, especially being able to use my speed and agility to create leverage and dominate defenders.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory is from this past season when we upset the same top-10 team twice in the season. Everyone was fired up and going crazy in the locker room afterward.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is my guy, Luke McCain. He and I compete every day at practice, and we make each other better by going against one another.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
My advice would be to not let people get in your head. During my freshman year, there were guys I looked up to who doubted my ability and skill level because I hadn’t broken through or been given an opportunity yet. Keep your head down, use that negativity as motivation, and continue working until you prove yourself.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere, it would be to Hawaii or another tropical place with a beautiful beach view.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was about 5 years old when I fell in love with football, and I’ve been playing for the past 11 years.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I’d love to meet Tom Brady someday. He’s been a player I’ve looked up to my whole life, and his mental resilience and love for the game are qualities I’ve always respected.

What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?
My favorite sports moment is Caleb Williams’ throw in overtime to DJ Moore to beat the Packers. The Bears’ season was awesome to watch.
