Hayden Koo is a 4 Star recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Tustin High School. Koo is ranked as the 172nd best recruit in the class of 2028 and is ranked as a top 25 Wide Receiver in the class as well. In addition, Koo is listed as a top 20 recruit in the state of California and is listed as the #1 Wide Receiver in the state of California. He holds offers from schools such as Ohio State, Michigan and USC.

Who are some role models in your life?
Some of my role models who I look up to are my parents. My dad has had a huge impact on me by showing me how discipline and mental toughness can take you far in life. He’s been with me throughout this process and has helped me every step of the way. My mom has also been a huge part of my journey by handling all of the behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed but is always appreciated and valued.

What artists do you listen to pregame to get you hyped up?
I listen to Drake, Jhené Aiko, and NBA YoungBoy to really get me going before games.

What are the strengths of your game?
Some of my strengths are my physical attributes when competing against great competition. I’m able to compete with bigger and longer DBs. I also take pride in my football IQ, whether it’s knowing how to find open space in a zone or recognizing coverage at the snap.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
One of my favorite memories was coming to Tustin and building a special bond with my teammates. Being able to create a family-like culture in the locker room is something I’ll always appreciate.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
For me, it has been guys like John Meredith and Donte Wright. They are both incredible players who have made a major impact and proven themselves on the field.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
I would say to keep your head down and don’t focus on what others are doing or what they might have over you. I always live by the quote, “Everyone bleeds the same.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would want to travel to Korea and visit my ancestors’ home country. I would love to experience the culture and see the place where my family made a name for themselves. Now it’s my job to continue that legacy here in the U.S.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I really fell in love with the game when I understood my “why.” I don’t have a specific age because your “why” can change over time, but that purpose is what keeps the love for the game alive.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
For me, it would be Kobe Bryant. I would want to sit down with him and pick his brain, learning everything I could from someone with such a strong fighter mentality.

What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?
I think it was when my Miami Dolphins had the Miami Miracle. It was crazy because I was on my birthday trip at Universal and got to watch the game happen live.
