Denton Guyer’s Star Defensive Lineman: Darrien Neal

Darrien Neal is a 3 Star recruit who plays Defensive Tackle at Denton Guyer High School. Neal is ranked among one of the top recruits in the nation and is ranked among one of the top Defensive Tackles in the nation as well. In addition, Neal is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Texas and is listed as a top 25 Defensive Tackle in the state of Texas. He is committed to play at TCU.

Who are some role models in your life?
My role model is Chris Andersen. He played with the Miami Heat.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I listen to YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Raq Baby, Lil Rae, and Lil Tony.

What are the strengths of your game?
My strengths are that I have a powerful strike and good footwork.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory is when I got my first varsity sack.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is Khyren Haywood.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
The advice I would give an aspiring D1 athlete is to stay disciplined and consistent, both on and off the field.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere, I would go to Hawaii.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with the game when I was 14 because I was really into basketball before I started playing.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I would want to meet Chris Andersen.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
One of my favorite sports moments as a fan is watching Odell Beckham Jr. make that incredible one-handed catch.
