The #3 Offensive Tackle In Michigan: Jack Carlson

Jack Carlson is a 3 Star recruit who plays Offensive Tackle at Brighton High School. Carlson is ranked as the 520th best recruit in the nation and is ranked as a top 50 Offensive Tackle in the nation as well. In addition, Carlson is listed as a top 10 recruit in the state of Michigan and is listed as the #3 Offensive Tackle in the state of Michigan. He is committed to play at Michigan State.

Who are some role models in your life?
Two of my biggest role models are my parents. They are very hardworking and do so much for my siblings and me. Seeing that kind of love and dedication makes them easy to look up to. Jesus is also a big role model for me. He’s the greatest.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Pregame, I go through a cycle of Orthodox Christian choir and prayer music, either on the bus to an away game or on the field while stretching. Then, closer to game time, I usually listen to James Brown or some funk to get excited and loose for the game.

What are the strengths of your game?
The strengths of my game are being a long and athletic offensive lineman, along with having good flexibility in my hips and ankles. I also have a background in wrestling, which helps me use leverage at 6’7″ to get low and under people to create movement. I love the run game, especially when I can pick on linebackers, and I also enjoy holding things down in pass protection.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my football career is from my sophomore season, specifically at our summer team camp at ONU. Hearing the senior speeches was inspiring and also a little sad, but it opened my eyes to how much I love the game. It made me realize I play not just for myself but for my brother next to me, and it taught me about brotherhood and accountability.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve ever played with is Jaden Rogers, a defensive end from Brighton and a 2025 Army commit. He was a beast on the field and a hard worker. He mentored me through my sophomore season and is my biggest inspiration. He passed down his “Legacy” backplate, which has been in Brighton football since 2015, and I wear it in every game.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
First, trust the process. Listen to the people you trust and know that God has a plan for you. Second, fall in love with the game. Whether or not you have D1 offers, if you love football, you’ll play at any level you can. Become a student of the game, be coachable, and outwork everyone else to reach your goals.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere, I’d probably go to Italy. I love pizza, the culture is beautiful, and I’m sure there are amazing sights to see. Otherwise, anywhere with nice weather and great food works for me.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with football in third grade. By then, it had been my third year playing, and I began dreaming of playing forever. If I couldn’t play tomorrow, I’d still find a way to be involved in the game because I love it that much.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I would want to meet Nick Saban. I’m not an Alabama fan, but he’s one of the most legendary football coaches of all time and knows how to win. Talking with him about play calling, design, and execution would help me grow as a football player.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan was seeing my hometown team make it to the state championship. I remember being at Ford Field as an 11-year-old and seeing my whole town there supporting the team. I wanted to be the one playing on the field and honoring my hometown. We didn’t win that game, but I hope as a senior to change that.
