Derrick Hooker Jr is a 2029 recruit who plays Offensive Tackle at University Lab High School. Hooker Jr is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2029 and is ranked among one of the top Offensive Tackles in the class as well. In addition, Hooker Jr is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Louisiana and is listed among one of the top Offensive Tackles in the state of Louisiana. Who are some role models in your life?
My parents and my coaches. They’ve taught me discipline, accountability, and how to keep working even when things don’t go my way.

What artists do you listen to pregame to get you hyped up?
Lil Baby, EST Gee, and NBA YoungBoy. Their music helps me lock in before games.

What are the strengths of your game?
My athleticism, football IQ, and effort.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory is when I won my first playoff game.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
I’ve been fortunate to compete against a lot of talented players, but the best was a guy named Jaquan Bland.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Trust the process, work, and never let setbacks stop you.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Japan. I’ve always wanted to experience the culture and see what it’s like.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
Around 5 or 6 years old. That’s when I realized football was something I wanted to keep pursuing.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
LeBron James. I respect his work ethic, leadership, and everything he’s accomplished on and off the court.
