The Westlake (GA) Star Quarterback: RJ Johnson
RJ Johnson is a 2023 recruit who plays Quarterback at Westlake High School. Johnson is ranked among one of the Top recruits in the class of 2023 and is ranked as one of the Top Quarterbacks in the class as well. Johnson was recently named to MaxPreps 2020 Sophomore All American 1st Team. He currently holds offers from, Florida Atlantic and Eastern Kentucky.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
Growing up I looked up to Cam Newton, mainly for the fact he comes from same side of town I´m from, played rec league at the same parks I did, which inspired me believe that I can do also.
What high school is your biggest rival?
Langston Hughes High School. That’s the game everybody in the city looks forward to.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Can’t really name songs because it may switch up every week but mainly Lil Durk , King Von , Lil Baby , and Rylo.
What is your offseason training like?
I mainly train with 2 trainers Tony Ballard and Drico Hines and I lift weights at my school on my own or when there is a scheduled team lift. But also in the offseason is where I really take a lot of time to focus directly on school.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career, so far?
I would have to say Lovejoy game. It was tough week for the entire South Fulton community losing our principle and I was proud of my guys and how we balled that night for him and for the community.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I ever played with is Leo Blackburn. We have a special connection that made it hard for teams defend.
What is your favorite food?
Favorite food is wings
When did you realize you were talented at football?
I realized I was talented at football the day I started playing football when I was 4 years old. I was supposed to play flag football but ended up playing tackle against 5 and 6 years old. I played Cornerback and Running Back.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
It would have be Tom Brady the goat himself. It would be a blessing to experience a conversation with someone who is known as the greatest player in all sports.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
Greatest sports moment as a fan would be watching Tom Brady win his 7th Super Bowl ring.
