The Top Sophomore In Kansas: Gus Corsair

Gus Corsair is a 3 Star recruit who plays Interior Offensive Line at Hays High School. Corsair is ranked as the 389th best recruit in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 25 Interior Offensive Lineman in the class as well. In addition, Corsair is listed as the #1 recruit in the state of Kansas. He holds offers from schools such as Iowa State, Kansas State and Kansas.

Who are some role models in your life?
I would have to say my parents and coaches. They’ve set a standard for me in life and sports that I know I need to reach to be great.

What are the strengths of your game?
One of my biggest strengths is effort. I might mess up on something, but I’m going to do it going 110%.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
When our team went to State last year. It was amazing to see the camaraderie we built through that run—something I’ll never forget.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is Henry Fitzthum. He was a senior when I was a freshman and really took me under his wing. I learned so much from him.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Take it one day at a time and enjoy the process. Make those workouts and long nights part of the thrill. Go all in and commit to the grind.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Anywhere I could go deep-sea fishing. It’s been on my bucket list for a while.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was 8 years old, watching the 2016 National Championship between Clemson and Alabama. Seeing Nick Saban and that atmosphere, I knew I wanted to play for Alabama. That dream is still alive today.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
Jason Kelce. He’s been my favorite player forever. I’d love to talk ball with him and hear how he sees the game.
