The Top Sophomore In Iowa: Jevyn Severson

Jevyn Severson is a 4 Star recruit who plays Tight End at Madrid High School. Severson is ranked as the 62nd best recruit in the class of 2028 and is ranked as the #2 Tight End in the class as well. In addition, Severson is listed as the #1 recruit in the state of Iowa. He currently holds offers from Iowa State, Kansas State and Wisconsin.

Who are some role models in your life?
My role models in my life are my parents and the Lord for helping me through every step of the way!

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
The artists I listen to pregame to get hyped and ready are 50 Cent and DMX!

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory so far in my career is being able to play football and basketball with my brother, who graduated this year, and being able to make state in football and also win a state championship in basketball was a great memory for me!

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
I would probably say the best player I have played against was this year, midway through the season, when I went head-to-head against a Wyoming commit named Tariq Miller.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
The thing I would say to someone who wants to make it to D1 or just the next level is that the work you put in is huge. If you don’t like working yourself to the max, it’s not cut out for you. Just enjoy the process of getting better over time!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would have to be Ireland because a lot of my family, throughout time, were from there!

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with the game as a little kid. I would say probably around four—I was running around the yard with a little football helmet on—and then five when I actually started playing tackle football!

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
One sports hero I would love to meet would be Shaq because I grew up watching him break backboards, and I loved it as a kid. I used to try to play like him on my mini hoop!

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan has to be the Minneapolis Miracle because it was a great way to end a game, and because I’m a die-hard Vikings fan!
