Dedrick Kimbrough is a 4 Star recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Thompson High School. Kimbrough is ranked as the 57th best recruit in the class of 2028 and is ranked as a top 10 Wide Receiver in the class as well. In addition, Kimbrough is listed as the #1 recruit in the state of Alabama. He holds offers from schools such as Alabama, Penn State and Florida State.
Who are some role models in your life?
The role models in my life would definitely be my mom and dad. They’ve supported me through everything and always put me in the best position to succeed.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I always listen to Fattmack and Rod Wave before games. Music has always been something that could ease any nerves I had, so those two artists have always been my favorites.
What are the strengths of your game?
I feel like the best part of my game right now is my ability to make tough catches. I always work on making those grabs in any situation, so in games it just feels like second nature.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My one-handed catch from last year is definitely my favorite memory. I still go back and watch it because I can’t even believe I managed to make that play.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with or against has to be my teammate, Micah Fleming. We compete every day at practice, and that guy’s going to be an animal.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Some advice I’d give is to never compare someone else’s success to your own. As an athlete, I had to realize that I have my own path, and my time will come. It’s not always about the offers or the exposure—some kids blow up later in their careers.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to visit Tokyo. I watched a lot of movies based there, and it’s always seemed like an unreal place to experience.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was 5 years old when I fell in love with football. I used to watch my older cousins at practice, and I knew from then that football was my passion.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I would love to meet Jeremiah Smith. A lot of people might not consider him a “hero,” but I look up to him and study his game a lot.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
As a fan, my favorite sports moment was watching the 4th and 31 miracle in the Iron Bowl. That was just a playmaker doing what he does best.
