Zion Dobson is a 4 Star recruit who plays Safety at East Forsyth High School. Dobson is ranked as the 165th best recruit in the class of 2028 and is ranked as a top 15 Safety in the class as well. In addition, Dobson is listed as a top 10 recruit in the state of North Carolina and is listed as the #1 Safety in the state of North Carolina. He holds offers from schools such as Notre Dame, LSU and Ole Miss.
Who are some role models in your life?
Some role models in my life are my mom and dad. Seeing how they attack each day and their hard work drives me to be better in everything I do!
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
So I have a little routine where I’ll start with some chill music while we’re eating, so maybe J. Cole, YN Lucci, or Rod Wave. And then when I go out for my pregame stretch, that’s when I mix in some more aggressive artists like YTB Fatt or YoungBoy. And finally, right before the game, it’s straight rap music, so I’ll have Lil Boosie “Set It Off” playing, and YTB Fatt and Joot Breezy.
What are the strengths of your game?
I’d say the strengths of my game are my versatility in how I can and do move to any position in the secondary, as well as my mentality and mindset. I have full belief in myself, and I play with confidence.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career was my freshman year on varsity when I made a big fourth-down stop in crunch time and just the energy that it brought to the whole stadium.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is Bryce Baker. He’s now at Virginia Tech. His passing accuracy and IQ are great.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Some advice I would give is to focus on yourself and not look at what others are doing, and just work hard every day because when you get on that field, it will show.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to Jamaica because I want to experience the culture in real life.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with the game the first time I ever put that flag on my hips at the YMCA. I was four years old.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I would meet Deion Sanders because he played with supreme confidence, and I would love to pick his brain about things.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment is 2019 LSU beating Clemson to win the national championship, since I’ve always been an LSU fan.
