The St. Thomas Aquinas Star Punter: Michael Kern

Michael Kern is a 2024 recruit who plays Punter at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Kern is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked as the #4 Punter in the class as well. In addition, Kern is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Florida and is listed as the #2 Punter in the state of Florida. He currently holds offers from Army and Eastern Kentucky.

Who are some role models in your life?

I would say my parents, my dad played college football so I look up to him.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

I like to listen to Kodak and Gunna.

What are the strengths of your game?

My strengths are my ability to directionally punt and my ability to control the ball of my foot.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory is winning back to back state championships.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best players I’ve played with are Mason Taylor and Zion Turner, they were great to me.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

Keep your head down and work. Don’t let anyone know what you are doing, work in silence.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would travel to Australia.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I was in 6th grade when I started to love football.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

I would want to meet Michael Turk, he seems like an awesome person.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

One of my most memorable sports moments was Super Bowl XLIX between the Seahawks and Patriots.
