The Gophers Next Star Quarterback: Jackson Kollock

Jackson Kollock is a 3 Star recruit who plays Quarterback at Laguna Beach High School. Kollock is ranked as the 462nd best recruit in the nation and is ranked as a top 30 Quarterback in the nation as well. In addition, Kollock is listed as a top 40 recruit in the state of California and is listed as a top 10 Quarterback in the state of California. He is committed to play at Minnesota.

Who are some role models in your life?

One of the role models in my life would be one of my QB coaches Dakota Prukop. 

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

There’s one pregame song | listen to before every game and it is Run this town by Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye. That song just always gets me dialed in and prepared for battle.

What are the strengths of your game?

Some strengths of my game are my quick processing ability, arm strength, and accuracy. 

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory would have to be winning a CIF championship. That has to be one of the best moments of my life and just sharing it with the people that mean the most to me meant the world and also being able to accomplish something in my schools history that hadn’t been done in over 70 years was so special.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best player I’ve played with is my tight end Ryner Swanson.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

The best advice I could give is just a quote that I live by that my dad tells me everyday and it is, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” 

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would love to go to Italy because that’s where part of my family originated and it’s always been a place I wanted to see.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I was 12 years old when I first fell in love with the game and it became my escape from reality during some very hard times and it is still what I go to when I just need a break or am dealing with something.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

If I could meet one sports hero it would be Aaron Rodgers. He’s one of the players I try to style my game after and he is one of my inspirations to start playing football.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

My favorite sports moment was when I was in the 7th grade and the Packers were playing the Lions and at the end of the game Rodgers threw up a Hail Mary to Richard Rodgers to win the game at the last second.
