The Future Belmont Star: Will Richard
Will Richard is a 3 Star recruit who plays Combo Guard at Woodward Academy. Richard is ranked as the #31 Combo Guard in the Class of 2021 and is a Top 25 recruit in the state of Georgia. In addition, Richard is also ranked as a Top 3 Combo Guard in the state of Georgia. Will Richard is committed to play at Belmont next fall.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?
Growing up I really just liked watching players like Klay Thompson and Cj McCollum just because of how well they scored the ball as well as how they were locked in on defense.
What high school is your biggest rival?
Our high school’s biggest rival is probably Pace Academy it’s always a good game when we play them.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I don’t really have a certain song I listen to before the game I usually play artists like Gunna and Key Glock though
What is your offseason training like?
For offseason I’m usually in the gym Monday through Saturday working with my basketball trainer then I mix that with getting 2-3 days a week with my strength coach working and Sunday’s I focus on stretching and icing.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career?
My favorite memory of my high school career is definitely winning the state championship this past year.
What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?
I feel like my scoring and shooting will definitely translate to college as well as being able to defend and rebound with my length.
What made Belmont stand out from other schools?
Belmont stood out because they’ve built a relationship with me since my sophomore year and took the time to show me how I could come in and make an immediate impact on their program.
What do you want to accomplish on and off the court during your time at Belmont?
I definitely want to win conference championships, make runs in the NCAA Tournament and hopefully bring Belmont a NCAA championship on the court. Other than that just developing into the best player I can be to get to that next level. Off the court I want a degree that will help me once the ball stops bouncing.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I had to meet a sports hero it would definitely be Lebron, just to see how he takes care of his body and train in order to perform the way he does.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment was watching the Warriors win that 2017 championship with all the adversity they faced.
