The #3 Kicker In Illinois: Patrick Durkin
Patrick Durkin is a 2024 recruit who plays Kicker at Joliet Catholic Academy. Durkin is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked as the 19th best Kicker in the class as well. In addition, Durkin is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Illinois and is listed as the #3 Kicker in the state of Illinois.
Who are some role models in your life?
I would say my parents, just seeing how they constantly work and provide for me and my sister and how they always support me with everything I do. Also I would say my kicking coach Chris Nendick is a role model to me because he’s not just taught me a ton about kicking but he’s also taught me a lot of the field that he probably doesn’t even now he’s taught me.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Before a game I listen to a lot of different music. Morgan Wallen, Lil Baby and NBA YoungBoy.
What are the strengths of your game?
My versatility. I can kick field goals, kickoff and punt at a high level. In addition, I think week to week I’m as consistent on field goals as anybody in the country.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
Winning a state championship in 2021 and hitting a game winning field goal vs IC this past season.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best players I’ve trained with are Conor Talty (Alabama kicker), David Olano (Illinois kicker) and James McCourt(Jaguars). In game the best player l’ve played against is Malik Elzy (Illinois).
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
My advice to someone aspiring to be a D1 athlete would be to compete vs yourself. In life the only person who will hold you back from reaching your goals will be yourself.

7th grade was when I fell in love with kicking.
