The #3 Junior Tight End In California: Jace Cannon

Jace Cannon is a 3 Star recruit who plays Tight End at Junipero Serra High School. Cannon is ranked as the 627th best recruit in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 40 Tight End in the class as well. In addition, Cannon is listed as a top 100 recruit in the state of California and is listed as the #3 Tight End in the state of California. He holds offers from schools such as Arizona State, Cal and New Mexico.

Who are some role models in your life?
A role model in my life is definitely my dad. He played minor league baseball and had to work really hard to get there. His work ethic is still very strong—he works hard so I can do what I love, and I respect him a lot for that.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
To get hyped up pregame, I listen to a lot of metal bands like Pantera, Metallica, and Limp Bizkit.

What are the strengths of your game?
The strengths of my game are definitely my height and athleticism. I’m very blessed to have both.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career is definitely beating Folsom my sophomore year. More specifically, I was on the onside kick team when we recovered the ball to help us win the game. I’ll remember that moment for a long time.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve ever played with was Cole Harrison. My freshman year, I got called up to varsity along with a few of my teammates. The starting tight end on that team was Cole, who’s now at Tennessee. Being around that level really helped me because it showed me how top players act and play.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Some advice I’d give to an aspiring D1 athlete is to never stop working. Never let anyone outwork you. A quote that stands out to me—something one of my coaches told our team—is: “Today I do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.” – Jerry Rice

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere, it would be to my favorite place: Bend, Oregon.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I’ve loved sports my whole life. I think I’ve always known that’s what I wanted to do.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet any sports hero, I’d want to meet Pat Tillman. He’s not just a sports hero, but an American hero, and I really admire him for that. Rest in peace.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite moment as a fan was definitely the famous OBJ catch in 2014. I remember seeing it live and trying to recreate it nonstop.

Congratulations Jace…great article and you were so right about your dad who always knew how to focus on his goal it’s a great thing to inherit, also your mother was a great softball player at Santa Clara U, so it’s in the genes….looking forward to see it all unfold in the coming years..dream big…👍👍
