Jalaythan Mayfield is a 4 Star recruit who plays Linebacker at Lincolnton High School. Mayfield is ranked as the 178th best recruit in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 15 Linebacker in the class as well. In addition, Mayfield is listed as a top 10 recruit in the state of North Carolina and is listed as the #2 Linebacker in the state of North Carolina. He holds offers from schools such as Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State.

Who are some role models in your life?
My mom is a huge role model for me. She works so hard to provide for me and my brother, and I look up to her every day.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I listen to Caleb Gordon before the games to get myself hyped and locked in.

What are the strengths of your game?
The strength of my game is how I play with a sense of urgency. I’m always trying to make a difference on the field.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory is playing with my brother. It’s a special experience that I’ll always cherish.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is probably my brother. He’s signed to play at Charleston Southern this fall, and he’s been an incredible inspiration to me.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
My advice would be to always be yourself and never give up on your dreams. Believe in yourself no matter what.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to travel to Dubai. It looks like such an amazing place with so much to explore.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with the game when I was 4 years old. I couldn’t even play yet, but I practiced and knew this was something I wanted to do.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero, it would definitely be LeBron James. His work ethic and dedication are unmatched.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment was when I was in 5th grade and got to get on Wake Forest’s court after the game.
