The #2 Kicker In Texas: Connor Hawkins
Connor Hawkins is a 2024 recruit who plays Kicker at Liberty Hill High School. Hawkins is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked as the #8 Kicker in the class as well. In addition, Hawkins is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Texas and is listed as the #2 Kicker in the state of Texas. He currently holds an offer from Air Force.
Who are some role models in your life?
My biggest role model is definitely my dad. I strive to be like him every day.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Before games, I’ll normally listen to Disturbed and Hollywood Undead. Any rock in general.
What are the strengths of your game?
I’d say my strengths are being able to hit far and consistent balls on both Field Goals and Kickoffs.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
Making a 30 yard PAT (after two false starts) in the State Semifinals after being iced twice is probably my favorite memory from football so far.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve ever played with is Noah Long. He is a fantastic running back who was 1st Team All-State as well as Ford’s Player of the Year this past season.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
I would say to just keep working on being better than you were the day before. As long as you continue to progress and get your name out there, the rest will take care of itself.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere, I’d travel to Rome because I’d love to see The Colosseum in person.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was about 14 years old when I fell in love with kicking and decided to pursue football rather than soccer.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I’d meet Evan McPherson because I always watched him in college, and he’s becoming one of the best kickers currently in the NFL.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite moment as a fan was watching Justin Tucker break the NFL record with a 66 yard field goal live on TV. It bounced off the crossbar and barely went in for the Ravens to beat the Lions.
