Devontray Brewer is a 3 Star recruit who plays Linebacker at Tupelo High School. Brewer is ranked as the 380th best recruit in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 30 Linebacker in the class as well. In addition, Brewer is listed as a top 15 recruit in the state of Mississippi and is listed as the #1 Linebacker in the state of Mississippi. He holds offers from schools such as Ole Miss, Baylor and Mississippi State.

Who are some role models in your life?
My biggest role models are my parents—they instilled hard work and resilience in me. I also look up to players like Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis for their commitment and excellence on the football field.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Before I hit the field, I like to listen to Kendrick Lamar, NBA YoungBoy, and Lil Wayne to get my mind locked in.

What are the strengths of your game?
One of my biggest strengths is my ability to get sideline to sideline. Playing 7A football, you’re facing elite speed every week—running backs, quarterbacks, and receivers who can break big plays. You’ve got to be able to track them down and make plays all over the field.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory is when we won the 7A State Championship. The adrenaline, the emotion—it was unforgettable.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or against in your career?
The best player I’ve gone up against is Jaylen Ruffin, the quarterback from Starkville High School. He’s big, fast, and can pretty much do it all.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Focus on your fundamentals and stay disciplined in your training. Always be a team player—that mindset will take you far, both on and off the field.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could go anywhere, it would be Tokyo, Japan. I love the culture, the people, and the respect they show—it’s a place I’ve always wanted to experience.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with football around age 7. I still remember my first flag football game—it was amazing and I’ve been hooked ever since.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I’d want to meet Walter Payton. His talent, work ethic, and heart for the game are legendary. I’d love to hear his stories in person.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan was watching the Packers beat the Cowboys in the 2024 Wild Card game.
