The #1 Sophomore In Maryland: Bryce Smalls

Bryce Smalls is a 5 Star recruit who plays Offensive Tackle at Archbishop Spalding High School. Smalls is ranked as the 32nd best recruit in the class of 2028 and is ranked as the #4 Offensive Tackle in the class as well. In addition, Smalls is listed as the #1 recruit in the state of Maryland. He holds offers from schools such as Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State.

Who are some role models in your life?
I would say some role models in my life are my parents and probably my coaches. The reason I say them is because they do a good job of motivating me to keep going and giving full effort since they know what it’s like to be a high-level athlete.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I don’t have any specific artists I listen to. Honestly, I don’t really like to listen to a lot of music that gets me ready to jump off the walls. I like to listen to music that calms my nerves and helps me focus.

What are the strengths of your game?
I would say some strengths in my game are my footwork, patience, speed, power, and ability to anchor down in pass protection.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my football career is winning a state championship my freshman year.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
I have two players that instantly stick out to me: quarterback Malik Washington and defensive tackle Delmar White.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
If I had any advice to give, I would say just keep working on your craft and listen to your coaches.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I just started playing football this year, so I can’t really say I have a fully developed love for the game because I haven’t been around it long enough. But I do feel that playing is one of the best decisions I have made so far.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I would have to say Kobe Bryant. I feel like his mentality was just on a different level, and I would really like to pick his brain about being an athlete.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
When I think about sports moments, the only thing I can think of is Kawhi Leonard’s Game 7 buzzer-beater.
