Carnell Tate is a 4 Star recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Marist High School. Tate is ranked as the 58th best recruit in the class of 2023 and is listed as the #6 Wide Receiver in the class as well. In addition, Tate is isted as the #1 recruit in the state of Illinois. Going in to his Sophomore season, he currently holds offers from Michigan State and Cincinnati.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
Yes. I was always inspired by Julio Jones and Michael Thomas. I just loved the way Julio ran routes and was an overall monster. I also loved how Michael Thomas caught everything he touched and ran great routes.
What high school is your biggest rival?
Brother Rice High School is our biggest rival. However, my personal rivals are Mount Carmel High School, Loyola Academy, and Nazareth Academy.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I always listen to some Meek Mill, Chief Keef, Lil Baby, Kodak, and Drake. Especially, Dreams and Nightmares, Love Sosa, Skrilla, Freestyle, and Mob Ties, and March Madness.
What is your offseason training like?
My offseason training usually consists of lifting, 7v7’s, and speed training.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career, so far?
My favorite memory of my high school career so far is going for 100 yards on Loyola.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your high school career?
The best player I’ve ever played with is A.J. Markett and against was Kaleb Miller and Ben Perry.
What do you look for in choosing a college?
Most importantly is academics. Then, I look to see if they throw the ball more than enough.
When did you start looking at colleges, and when did colleges start looking at you?
I always looked at colleges, but I didn’t really start to look into them until I got offered. Colleges started looking at me during my freshmen year right after the season.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I would love to meet Michael Thomas.
