The #1 Punter In California: Aidan Flintoft

Aidan Flintoft is a 2023 recruit who plays Punter at Oaks Christian High School. Flintoft is ranked among one of the top recruits in the nation and is ranked among one of the top Punters in the nation as well. In addition, Flintoft is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of California and is listed as the #1 Punter in the state of California. Aidan Flintoft is committed to play at Stanford next fall.

Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?

Yes for sure. My favorite player growing up was definitely Tom Brady, and he very much inspired me to work super hard.

What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

Before games, I like to get in a relaxed mental space, so I usually go with some groovy older songs like the Doobie Brothers’s songs or More Than A Feeling by Boston.

What is your offseason training like?

My offseason training is mainly focused on building muscle and breaking down my technique to build it back up later. Usually kicking and lifting 3x each a week if the team isn’t doing anything, and always stretching and doing kicking drills. Other than that, I just got with what the team does.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory of my career so far has been hitting a 63 yard punt in a playoff game. The other team brought all 11 rushers, so I drove it and got the bounce for it to roll a little further. It was an awesome feeling, especially since we were backed up in terms of field position.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best player I’ve played against in my career has probably been Nico Iamaleava—I actually played him in volleyball.

What was your reaction to getting your first offer?

My reaction to getting my first offer was simply shock—I had flown in on a red-eye to make the Harvard camp, and we barely made it on time. Then, after being fortunate enough to get the offer, I was very grateful to the great people there and went to celebrate by getting a milkshake with my mom.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is sushi—all types of it.

When did you realize you were talented at football?

I realized that football would be my path forward after my freshman season when I began working with Aaron Perez. He really inspired a love for punting within me. Same with my other coaches Drew Kaser and Cole Murphy.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

If I could meet one sports player right now, I would meet with Cooper Kupp, as his rise to dominance through hard work is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in sports.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

My favorite moments as a sports fan have to be 28-3 (as a Pats fan) and the 2016 NBA Finals when LeBron took over to take down the Warriors.
