Kanyon Floyd is a 2024 recruit who plays Punter at Horizon High School. Floyd is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked as the 9th best Punter in the class as well. In addition, Floyd is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Arizona and is listed as the #1 Punter in the state of Arizona. He currently holds offers from Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Who are some role models in your life?

My parents, because they set good examples for me and support me with my schooling and football.

What are the strengths of your game?

Some of my strengths are my leg speed and athleticism.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

Last season’s game against Casa Grande. I went 2/2 on field goals, had a fake punt pass for a 46 yard gain, and had an onside kick recovered.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

Matt Klopfenstein, a tight end from the 2023 class at my high school, who is now at Baylor.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

Start your recruiting early. Seek out good advice from other players, parents, and coaches who have experience with this. Focus on your academics.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would go to Italy for the great food.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

Probably my sophomore year, when I played kicker, punter, and starting safety.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

Michael Turk, aka “Hangtime”

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

The World Cup Final game, between France and Argentina.
