The #1 Long Snapper In Texas: Morrow Evans
Morrow Evans is a 2024 recruit who plays Long Snapper at Episcopal High School. Evans is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked as the #3 Long Snapper in the class as well. In addition, Evans is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Texas and is listed as the #1 Long Snapper in the state of Texas. He currently holds an offer from Ole Miss.
Who are some role models in your life?
My role models would definitely have to be my parents and my coaches, especially Coach Leisz, my high school football coach. My parents have always been there for me. Whether it be recruiting or life in general, they always give me the best advice throughout it all. Coach Leisz has believed in me from day 1, and has pushed me to be the best snapper and person in and out of the season. Without his guidance and trust, I would not be in the position I am today.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I mostly like to listen to motivational speakers before games because it gets me in the right mood. When I am listening to music during lifts my go to is Meek Mill. He never ceases to get me pumped.
What are the strengths of your game?
I feel like the strength of my game is my mentality. Whether it be on or off the field I always give it my all. When it comes time to do what I need to do, especially in pressure situations, I feel like I do a great job at delivering.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career would definitely have to be when I was pulled up freshman year to play on varsity. This experience really kickstarted my dream, and as a scrawny 160 pound freshman it gave me the motivation to get to where I am now.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I have played with would have to be Donovan Jackson, now an Ohio State lineman. My freshman year, when I was pulled up to varsity, he was one of the guys I looked up to – in the weight room and on the field, as a player and as a person. He gave me a standard to follow, and a glimpse at what I could achieve with hard work.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
The biggest piece of advice I would give to someone aspiring to take their talents to the next level is to always give it 110%. I’ve stuck by this throughout my journey, and it truly has molded me into the person I am today. No matter what happens in life if you give it 110%, no matter the outcome you will be able to say you have given it your all.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would love to go to the Bahamas. I love the ocean, and fishing is a big passion of mine.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
For me, during 2020 quarantine is really when I fell in love with football and longsnapping specifically. I always knew I wanted to pursue the next level, and longsnapping gave me an opportunity to specialize in something I love. Everyday I would go into my backyard and snap to a $20 net I bought off of Amazon. It gave me a purpose, and the practice payed off.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
if could meet one sports hero it would definitely have to be Muhammad Ali. I listen to his speeches constantly whenever I need to get into the zone for an important event. I really look up to his mentality, and how he worked to achieve his dream.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan would have to be when the Astros won the World Series in 2017. Being from Houston, I have always been a big Astros fan, and that was definitely a big high in the games I have watched throughout the years.
