The #1 Long Snapper In North Carolina: Grant Mills

Grant Mills is a 2024 recruit who plays Long Snapper at Cannon School. Mills is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked as the 6th best Long Snapper in the class as well. In addition, Mills is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of North Carolina and is listed as the #1 Long Snapper in the state of North Carolina.

Who are some role models in your life?

My role models are people who are close to me. Obviously my parents are role models, but so are my grandparents. My grandmother has always been a huge supporter of mine. She is a model example of how to support others. My grandfather is a model of how hard work, persistence, and always showing up. He is a successful businessman and one of the hardest working people I have ever seen, even at age 71.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

I have a wide range of pregame music, from country to classic rock and everything in between.

What are the strengths of your game?

I’m a team player. I strive to have a personal relationship with not just my fellow special team members, but every member of the team and staff. The strength I bring to my team is preparedness. I practice and work to improve my skills every day and I am always prepared for team practices and game day.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite moment was clinching the North Carolina Independent School D2 championship as a sophomore. It truly is a moment I will never forget.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best player I have ever played with is Colin Bullard. We fought side by side in the trenches on the offensive line for 3 years. He always has unstoppable energy. He is graduating and I will miss him during my upcoming senior year.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

As an aspiring D1 athlete myself, I encourage others to not get discouraged. There are good days and not so good days for all athletes. Keep pushing and move forward.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

One place I would like to go back to would be Yellow Stone National Park. I have visited there before and had a great time and I would enjoy going back.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I started playing tackle football at age 10. I have been hooked ever since.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

My favorite sports moment happened when my grandfather took me to see the Green Bay Packers play at historic Lambeau Field. I will never forget seeing the stadium for the first time.
