Who are some role models in your life?
My main role models are my mom and dad. They have taught me from a young age to chase my dreams and work as hard as you can to achieve them. My dad has always been there for me since I started long snapping my freshman year, and it means the world to me. They have done everything for me and l’m beyond blessed to have them in my life.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I’ve always been a huge fan of Dropkick Murphys before games. I feel like any of their songs get me pumped up. On my pregame playlist, I have artists like Metallica, Guns N° Roses and AC/DC.
What are the strengths of your game?
I think one strength of my game is my versatility. Being from the Midwest, I’ve been able to snap in rain, sleet, and snow, so being able to be consistent in those situations I feel is a huge strength. Another thing I feel like I benefit from is my work ethic. As a long snapper, you can always improve on something, whether it is accuracy, tightening my spiral, getting my times down, or making sure I’m a valuable asset on the punt coverage team. My goal is to make sure l’m always improving on something every day, and I believe that is a huge strength for me.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory from high school football was from last year. We had a full special teams unit with myself, Ryan Pimental (kicker), and Zander Lankford (punter). We built a strong bond as a unit, whether it was kicking in the off season, special teams team dinner on Mondays and a lot more. We made huge improvements throughout the season, and it showed during games. It was a great season with the guys, and I’ll definitely miss the group we had.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve ever played against is Drayk Bowen. We played against him my sophomore and junior year, and he definitely played a great game in both games. He was solid on both offense and defense, as well as special teams. He made his presence known on the field for sure. He’s now playing at Notre Dame.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
The main advice I would give a younger kid is to always follow your dream. There’s going to be roadblocks along the way, but at the end of the day, you control your destiny. Whether it’s working on your position, lifting, mental game, or anything that will benefit you, always do it better than you did yesterday. Always have a goal set, stay set on it no matter what, and work as hard as you can to get it.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Since l’m big into history, I would say really anywhere in Europe. There is so much history whether it is Athens, Rome, London, or Berlin. There’s a lot of beautiful architecture and history, so I would definitely love to go to Europe.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was around 7 when I fell in love with football. In my city, football is something that the whole city comes together to watch. We have a rich history of success in football at Hobart, and that really made me fall in love with the game.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I got to meet my hero (Patrick Mannelly), and that was an absolute honor. He is someone idolized in his time with the Bears. I would say someone I wish I could meet is Anthony Rizzo. I’m a huge Cubs fan, and Rizzo always seemed like a captain on and off the field. When I was still playing baseball, he was someone I looked up to a lot. Wish he was a Cub still.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
The 2016 World Series. I’m a huge Cub fan, and finally being able to watch a team with Cubs legends like Rizzo, Bryant, and Javy was something that was very special to me. Although it was by far the scariest game of baseball I’ve ever seen in my life due to the game going into extras, it was worth watching the Cubs finally winning it all.
