Clayton Powell is a 3 Star recruit who plays Long Snapper at Sam Houston High School. Powell is ranked among one of the top recruits in the nation and is ranked as the #4 Long Snapper in the nation as well. In addition, Powell is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Louisiana and is listed as the #1 Long Snapper in the state of Louisiana. He is committed to play at Penn State.
Who are some role models in your life?
My biggest role models are definitely my parents. My mom and dad always set a great example and show me how to represent myself every day.
What artists do you listen to pregame to get you hyped up?
During pregame, my go-to for hype music is definitely YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Any of his songs gets me locked in and ready to play.
What are the strengths of your game?
The strengths of my game are my reliability and consistency. Being able to do whatever it takes to win and being selfless for the team is more important than any individual skill on the field.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career so far is scoring a 38-yard touchdown on our opening drive last season against one of our rivals and one of the top teams in the state.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve ever played with is my current teammate, Albert Simien, who committed to Notre Dame a few days ago. He’s the most dominant player I’ve ever played with and an even better person off the field.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Some advice I’d give to an aspiring D1 athlete is to work hard and keep showing up every day, even when it’s tough.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d choose Italy. It looks unreal.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was about 10 years old when I fell in love with football. Ever since then, it’s been a dream of mine to play for as long as I can.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero, it would be Michael Jordan. His mentality and ability to find ways to win made him one of the greatest athletes ever.
What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan was watching the Houston Astros win the 2017 World Series when I was younger. I was really into baseball as a kid.
