What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Drake, Aerosmith, and Roddy Rich
What are the strengths of your game?
I would say my strengths are my hip-speed and my mentality. Ever since I was young I would practice shooting in soccer for hours a day which has naturally built up my quads and hip-flexor fast twitch muscles. Along with all the weight and plyometric training l’ve been doing, I would say kicking in soccer from such a young age has been a major factor in aiding my kickoff and field goal power. Also, I would say that I have a great mentality as a kicker. I don’t treat kicking like a job that I have to do, I love kicking. I look forward to whenever I get to kick next, and I think that has really helped me keep a healthy and positive attitude towards my goals of playing at the highest possible level while also treating it very seriously.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
I would say that my favorite memory of my kicking career was winning the Kicking World Boston Field Goal competition my freshman year. It’s by no means my largest kicking achievement, but it was the moment that I realized that I had a future in kicking. As a freshman to go and beat out 30-40 older kickers in my area really made me realize that if I work hard enough there’s no limit to how far I can take this.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
This past year I faced Stanford commit Braden Marceau-Olayinka, and Brown commit James Murphy.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Well I’m still an aspiring D1 athlete, but some advice that I would give is to set your goals and develop a plan on how you can achieve them. It’s essential to come up with a routine that solves your areas that need improvement while building an emphasis on your strengths.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
l’ve always wanted to go to Italy, it’s my mother’s favorite country. l’ve never been and l’ve heard the food is great.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I’ve liked the sport of football from elementary school when I would collect sticker books of NFL players. I was always a huge Patriots and Stephen Gostkowski fan. When I was much younger I was pretty big and played OT and LB which is funny to think about now. Unfortunately, I stopped playing football in middle school to focus on soccer and other sports, but it came full circle when I eventually fell in love with kicking my freshman year during the quarantine.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I would love to meet Harrison Butker. I believe we both have really similar kicking styles and extremely similar builds, especially when he was in high school. Also, he trained with Kohl’s which is the same team I train and compete with. Most importantly, I would like to ask Harrison about how he went about achieving his success and how that led him to winning a Super Bowl.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
I have three moments. James White’s game winning touchdown in the Super Bowl, Malcolm Butler’s game sealing Super Bowl interception, and Justin Tucker’s 66 yard game winning field goal.
