Xamiya Walton is a 4 Star recruit who plays Point Guard at Butler College Prep. Walton is ranked as the 57th best recruit in the class of 2024 and is ranked as a top 25 Point Guard in the class as well. In addition, Walton is listed as the #3 recruit in the state of Illinois and is listed as the #1 Point Guard in the state of Illinois. Her top offers are Ohio State, Northwestern, and Pitt.

Who are some role models in your life?

Some role models in my life would be my parents, and in the sports world I definitely look up to Kobe Bryant and Skylar Diggins. 

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

My favorite artists to listen to pregame would have to be J. Cole, Lil Durk, and when I want just a certain vibe then it’s Brent Faiyaz for sure. 

What are the strengths of your game?

My strengths on the court are my ability to shoot, my defense, and my IQ/understanding of the game. 

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory of my career is winning a national championship in 3rd and 6th grade (playing up with 7th graders). It was quite a while ago but definitely is something that I’ll never forget. 

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

Two of the best players I have played against are Kiki Rice and JuJu Watkins, without a doubt. 

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

Some advice I’d give an aspiring D1 athlete would be not to buy into the hype and to focus on your own journey. If you focus too much on the success of others, then it takes your focus off of everything that you have coming to you.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

If I could travel anywhere in the world I would pick Greece, it’s so pretty there and the opposite of Chicago. 

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I fell in love with basketball in 1st grade. That was when I started going to camps and practicing with the older girls. 

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

A sports hero I want to meet is Kelsey Plum, she is such an inspiration especially for smaller players and I think I could learn a lot. 

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

My favorite sports moment as a fan was recently when the Chicago Sky won the WNBA Championship, because we’re such big sports fans as a city so it was nice to witness history for sure.
