Spring’s Star Defensive Tackle: Floyd Guidry

Floyd Guidry is a 3 Star recruit who plays Defensive Tackle at Spring High School. Guidry is ranked as the 790th best recruit in the nation and is ranked as a top 90 Defensive Tackle in the nation as well. In addition, Guidry is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Texas and is listed as a top 15 Defensive Tackle in the state of Texas. He is committed to play at TCU.

Who are some role models in your life?

The biggest role models in my life are definitely my mom and dad.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

Pregame, I listen to a variety of different artists like Chief Keef, Bossie, and even some local Houston artists like Mike Jones, Project Pat, and BigXthaPlug.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory playing football was against Westfield High School 2023 – 2024 season. My defensive coordinator came to me and told me it was my time to step up and make a big play which we needed. I remember all my teammates knowing that I was gonna be able to make the play and when the play started I got off the ball so fast and hit the quarterback as hard as I could where his whole body went in the air. 

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best person l’ve ever had the chance to play against is Elijah Fields.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

Be the athlete that wakes up the earliest and leaves the latest.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

If I could travel anywhere it would definitely be to Japan. I’m very into watching anime and playing videogames, so I feel I would love to go there to experience the culture and eat some amazing food.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I was later than most kids being I started pursuing football in 7th grade. It became an outlet or an escape from the poverty area that I was raised in and it kept me disciplined and out of trouble. 

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

Definitely Aaron Donald or JJ Watt
