Salpointe Catholic’s Star Receiver: David Rushing

David Rushing is a 3 Star recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Salpointe Catholic High School. Rushing is ranked as the 808th best recruit in the nation and is ranked as a top 100 Wide Receiver in the nation as well. In addition, Rushing is listed as a top 20 recruit in the state of Arizona and is listed as a top 10 Wide Receiver in the state of Arizona. He is committed to play at Kansas State.

Who are some role models in your life?
Some role models in my life, I’d say, are my two older brothers and my dad.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I’ve got to go with RMC Mike and Rio Da Young OG for pregame.

What are the strengths of your game?
The strengths of my game are that I’m a fast runner, able to burn past defenders, have great hands, a huge catch radius, and the ability to make plays after the catch.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career so far was when we beat Scottsdale Saguaro. In the final moments of the game, I scored the game-winning touchdown, and the feeling was surreal.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played against had to be Mason Lewis from Basha. He was the best competitor I faced all year.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
I would say just stay down and keep grinding. Do everything in your power to get better. You never want to have regrets looking back. Most importantly, keep faith in God. Everyone’s path is different, and God has a plan for everyone, so trust it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be Cancun, Mexico. A week living on that beach would take all my problems away.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I’ve loved football since I was born. Growing up with talented athletes around me really sparked my interest and made me realize how far I could go playing the sport I love.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero, I’d meet Jakobi Lane.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment was when my brothers at Oregon won the Big Ten Championship. I know it was a moment they’ll never forget.
