Purdues Next Star Center: Zach Edey

Zach Edey is a Freshman Center at Purdue. He was ranked in high school as a 3 Star recruit and attended IMG Academy. Edey is looking to come in and provide a spark to a Purdue team that has aspirations of winning a Big Ten Championship.

Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?

Joel Embiid was my biggest inspiration, he started basketball late in life in a different country just like I did then moved to America the next year he became a top NBA center and inspires me to believe if he can do it why not me?

What high school was your biggest rival?

Monteverde, they were the only team we couldn’t figure out how to beat.

What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

Lil Uzi

What is your offseason training like?

A lot of basketball and weight lifting. You want to improve in the off season and maintain in the season.

What is your favorite memory of your high school career?

Our first home game, I wasn’t sure if I belonged on the IMG national team, but that game I went off and was the leading scorer of the game, and dunked on a few people, I carried the confidence and built on that game for the rest of the season and I don’t know where I’d be without that experience.

What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?

My skill in the post, rebounding and paint protection

What made Purdue stand out from other schools?

The family atmosphere and the history with big people like myself.

What do you want to accomplish on and off the court during your time at Purdue?

Big Ten Title March Madness Title and off the court I just want to get the full college experience.

Shaq

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

Jose Bautista bat flip vs the Rangers when he walked it off.
