Nickerson’s Star Senior: Ava Jones

Ava Jones is a 4 Star recruit who plays Wing at Nickerson High School. Jones is ranked as the 83rd best recruit in the nation and is ranked as a top 15 Wing in the nation as well. In addition, Jones is Iowa’s highest ranked commit in the class of 2023. Ava Jones is committed to play at Iowa next fall.

I listen to artists like Drake and Lil Uzi Vert

What are the strengths of your game?

Mental toughness is a strength for me, I’m also a post but it makes me happy to shoot the ball wherever

What is your favorite memory of your career?

Playing AAU in the summer was so much fun, and it was so competitive.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

While playing AAU I played against Lauren Betts, it was fun to play against her.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

Work hard and absolutely love the game

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I love the ocean, so probably Hawaii

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I was around age 11, and I had so much fun playing basketball with my brother at home.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

I would love to sit down and talk with Sue Bird.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

I love watching games live. My favorite thing is to go to WNBA, NBA, or college basketball games.
