Who are some role models in your life?
The list of role models in my life is way too long to even name. Everyone around family, friends, and even coaches I all look up to and they all impact my life heavily. I appreciate all of them and wouldn’t be the person I am if it wasn’t for them.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Some artists I listen to before a game consist of EST GEE, G Herbo, Lud Foe, Icewear Vezzo, Lil Durk and many more. All depends on the mood, sometimes I’ll even listen to some Brent Fayiaz, Giveon and even female artists including H.E.R, Summer walker, and others. Music is definitely needed before any game.
What are the strengths of your game?
I would say my athleticism, being able to space the floor, defense, speed, and ability to get in positions where I can always get the ball are some of my strengths. Also Including offensive and defense rebounding.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
I would say all of last season with Kenwoods Varsity team would be my favorite memory. Just being able to travel with them and build unbreakable bonds with each and every one of them meant the world to me. If I had to name one memory, I would definitely say winning the JV Chicago Public School City Championship. Not being able to do that freshman year because of Covid really made that moment special.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
I’ve played with many high caliber players so I can’t specially name one, but one of the best players I’ve played against would definitely be Cason Wallace. With his athleticism at his size and strength while being able to control the floor would definitely put him on that list.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Advice I’d give to an aspiring athlete would be: you just have to work hard and go take what you want. This doesn’t mean no days off or never relax it means being able to lock in and just get in the gym and give it your all. While also still having fun with the game because what’s basketball if it’s not fun.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world right now, I’d either go to Paris or New Zealand. Both places I’ve never been to and I would just love to go to.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I would say I fell in love with the game in 7th grade. I started playing in 5th grade with my school team because before that I would just play during gym or recess, but definitely 7th grade. The nerves you feel before a game and just thinking about how far that orange ball can take you is what made me fall in love with the game.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero it would be between Odell Beckham Jr, Kobe, or Lebron James. I feel like talking to Odell and hearing his comeback story would be really inspiring and I have a feeling he’s just a cool dude. I’ve always wanted to meet Kobe and sadly never got the chance, but would love to talk to him about anything. I feel like he’s the type of person you can just talk to for hours. And for sure LeBron because his knowledge of the game and just life itself would be an honor to talk to.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment would be watching the Cubs win the World Series. Being from Chicago of course and also not watching much baseball it was just interesting watching that series because of the history behind making it to the World Series and them winning. Another moment would probably be Ray Allen’s game winning 3. Just the fact that fans were leaving before the game was even over and tried to run back to the door was funny to me so definitely that also.
