Hopewell Valley´s Star Running Back: Henry Lewis
Henry Lewis is a 2021 recruit who played Running Back at Hopewell Valley Central High School. Lewis is ranked among one of the Top recruits in the state of New Jersey and is ranked among one of the Top Running Backs in the state as well. In addition, Lewis is one of the best Running Backs to ever come out of Hopewell Valley. Henry Lewis is committed to play at Sacred Heart this fall.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
When I was younger I always loved watching Lesean Mccoy. Being a Eagles fan he brought a lot of excitement to the game. Recently I’ve been really inspired by Christian McCaffrey and Haason Reddick. I love the way McCaffrey plays and Haasons story is just unmatched. From being a walk on to a starting in the NFL is crazy.
What high school is your biggest rival?
Our rival right now would have to be Notre Dame. Another school that we have history with is Lawrence. We beat them in state championship in 2013 but recently Notre Dame has been the better competitor. It’s always a good game when we play them.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Pregame I like to listen to a lot of rap. Meek Mill, Kanye, Kendrick. Anything that’s high energy puts me in the zone.
What is your offseason training like?
Offseason I hit the weight room 4-5 times a week and try to get field work in as much as possible. The offseason is an important time for me to heal from the previous season and get bigger for the next.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career?
My favorite memory of my high school career would have to be scoring a 70 yard touchdown in my first varsity start. Hearing the crowd erupt while your running is a crazy feeling.
What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?
I hope to transition my understanding of the game and my work ethic. I think that I can really utilize those at the next level.
What made Sacred Heart stand out from other schools?
Sacred Heart was one of the few colleges that were willing to take a chance on me. I will be forever grateful for them for this opportunity and will make them happy they took that chance.
What do you want to accomplish on and off the field during your time at Sacred Heart?
I would love to make as much of an impact on the field as possible. Hopefully win a chip and get myself a ring. But also inspire others who might be in the same position and who have to walk on.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero I would want to meet Haasan Reddick and talk about his story and what it took to get to where he is.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan would be watching the Eagles win their first Super Bowl. It was a great feeling to be able to watch history.
