Folsom’s Next Star Receiver: Eliyas Woods
Eliyas Woods is a 2027 recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Folsom High School. Woods is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2027 and is ranked among one of the top Wide Receivers in the class as well. In addition, Woods is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of California and is listed among one of the top Wide Receivers in the state of California. He currently holds an offer from Washington.
Who are some role models in your life?
My dad is my role model because of what he does on a day to day basis to make sure my family and I have a roof over our heads and food in our stomachs no matter what situation we’re in, which is very inspiring.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I really just listen to what my mood is at the moment. It could be slow jams or it could be R&B. I’m open with my options.
What are the strengths of your game?
Some of my strengths are my hands, speed, route running, field vision, and mentality.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career was getting my first offer. It was so unexpected and not a lot of 8th graders get to say they hold a D1 offer at 14 or any offer at that, so I’m truly blessed and thankful for that happening.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is my best friend Carter Williams. He’s like a brother to me, and everytime we step on that field we handle business and to me, we are the best receiver duo in California for our age.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
To the kids that wanna become a D1 athlete. You gotta work. Nothing comes easy with being a D1 athlete, you have expectations you need to meet, you have to perfect your craft each and every day, and you gotta meet grade requirements. There’s a lot you need to do. You need to stay true to the grind, keep your head down, block out all the noise and do you. The rest will follow. It also depends on how bad you want it. It’s a mentality thing really
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
It’d probably be Hawaii. I heard it’s super nice and sunny out there. The views and sights are beautiful, so I wanna experience that for myself for sure.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was about 9 or 10. I made my first all-star game that year and it inspired me to play more and more. I realized that year I could really make a living out of this game and ever since then the rest was history.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I got to meet one sports hero, it would most definitely be Julio Jones. He’s my favorite receiver and I would ask him for advice on playing at the next level.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan, was watching LeBron win the 2016 NBA Finals with the Cavaliers.
