Downers Grove’s Star Freshman Quarterback: Owen Lansu

Owen Lansu is a 2026 recruit who plays Quarterback at Downers Grove High School. Lansu is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2026 and is ranked among one of the top Quarterbacks in the class as well. In addition, Lansu is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Illinois and is listed among one of the top Quarterbacks in the state of Illinois.

Who are some role models in your life?

My parents, coaches, and Jesus are all role models of mine.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

I can’t listen to music before games because I get too psyched out, I like to hear my own thoughts.

What are the strengths of your game?

I can be a strong leader and make the team closer. On the field, my arm strength helps me make lots of throws many can’t.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memories come from my eighth grade season in youth football, where we had a really good team and everyone was super close.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best player I have ever played against is probably Tyler Atkinson, in the UA All American game.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

If someone doesn’t help you grow as a person or a player, you shouldn’t involve yourself with them.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would go fishing in Puerto Rico

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I was 8 years old when I really started to like football.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

I would want to meet Walter Payton because he’s a legend for my favorite team and a great dude with a lot of wisdom.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

The 2018 Bears season was pretty great, but the ending was sad.
