Crean Lutheran’s Star Sophomore Wideout: Ty Johnson

Ty Johnson is a 4 Star recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Crean Lutheran High School. Johnson is ranked as the 177th best recruit in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 30 Wide Receiver in the class as well. In addition, Johnson is listed as a top 20 recruit in the state of California and is listed as the #3 Wide Receiver in the state of California. He holds offers from schools such as Arizona, Louisville and Texas Tech.

Who are some role models in your life?
My parents and coaches. They’ve been there every step of the way, pushing me to be my best on and off the field.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Pooh Shiesty, and Bossman Dlow always get me locked in before a game.

What are the strengths of your game?
My athleticism and size. I use both to my advantage every time I step on the field.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
Returning a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. That play will always stick with me.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or against in your career?
I’ve played against some real talent—London Smith and Tristen Gentry stand out the most.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Never be satisfied. Always find a way to improve and outwork the competition.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Hawaii. The beaches, the scenery—it’s definitely on my list.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was 7 years old. From the first time I played, I knew it was something I wanted to chase.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
Odell Beckham Jr. I’ve always looked up to him and his ability to make highlight-reel plays.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
When Odell made that iconic one-handed catch for a touchdown.
