Choate Rosemary Hall’s Star Freshman Outside Linebacker: Nicholas Malcolm

Nicholas Malcolm is a 2025 recruit who plays Outside Linebacker at Choate Rosemary Hall. Malcolm is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2025 and is ranked among one of the top Outside Linebackers in the class as well. In addition, Malcolm is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Connecticut and is listed among one of the top Outside Linebackers in the state of Connecticut.

Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?

I never got to watch him growing up but my favorite NFL player of all time is Lawrence Taylor. I loved how violent he was when playing, and he is the reason I wanted to play football and why I play linebacker. One player I loved to watch growing up was Odell Beckham Jr. He made the game look so fun to play and I loved watching him on TV.

What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

I listen to a playlist I made about 2-3 years ago that I still update to this day. I listen to aggressive songs like Sheff G, Sleepy Hollow, Dc The Don, NBA youngboy, Babysantana, and other artists.

What is your offseason training like?

Offseason training consists of lots of weight lifting because I need to get stronger, faster, and more elusive and to do that I gotta lift weights. Obviously I go to college camps to learn some more football techniques to sharpen my game on the field, but what I do off the field is what really counts.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory of my career is probably when the youth football team won the championship game back in 2020. It was my last year playing for the team before I went to high school and after 4 years playing football for that team, I had finally won my first championship. It was a great experience for me knowing that it is the first of many rings that I am going to obtain this season.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best player I have played with so far is probably Harrison Keith. The kid is a monster football player. One of the most elite athletes I’ve ever seen. He can play any position and shine and he always makes plays when it counts.

How old were you when you started playing football?

I stared playing football when I was 10 years old back in 2016. It’s funny because I wasn’t really fond of the sport until my first game. I realized how much I loved to play this sport and the rest is history.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is probably burgers. I love the chicken sandwiches from Popeyes and Chick-fil-A. They are amazing every time I eat them.

When did you realize you were talented at football?

I would say during my 3rd year playing football when I started getting defensive reps at Defensive End. All season I was making plays, getting into the backfield all game. I remember the first game of the season, my first time playing Defensive End, I had like 6-7 TFLs, 5 sacks and an interception in the final play of the game. The next practice my coaches were telling me how amazing of a game that was. That’s when I knew I could take this talent that I had and improve upon it so that I was unstoppable.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

I would definitely want to meet Kobe Bryant or Tom Brady. I would want to meet them because Kobe Bryant had the greatest mental/mindset in all of sports and Tom Brady because he knew what it took for him to go from a forth string quarterback to the greatest football player of all time.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

Fun Fact, to this day I have never been able to go to a live football game but the best moment was watching Odell make his very famous one handed catch. This was before I started playing football so it was amazing to see what these pros could really do.
