
Centennial’s Star Sophomore Cornerback: Augus Saunders
Augus Saunders is a 3 Star recruit who plays Cornerback at Centennial High School. Saunders is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 60 Cornerback in the class as well. In addition, Saunders is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of California and is listed as a top 20 Cornerback in the state of California. He currently holds offers from Arizona State, UConn and Sacramento State.
Who are some role models in your life?
One of my biggest role models is my uncle. He’s always been there for me since I was a kid and has helped keep me on the right path.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Before a game, I listen to Lil Durk, Rio Da Yung OG, Babyface Ray, and a few others. They help get me in the right mindset.
What are the strengths of your game?
My strength is definitely my man coverage. I can shut down a team’s top receiver and take away my whole side of the field.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory is when I flew out to Maryland with my team, the OG Ducks, and we beat Maryland Heat in a heated game.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is Danny Lang. We played together on the Ducks, and he’s currently at Mater Dei playing safety. The best player I’ve played against is Duvay Williams.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Stay focused on your end goal, and surround yourself with people who are chasing the same dreams as you. Make sure they want it as badly as you do.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d love to travel to Tokyo, Japan. It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with the game when I was 7 years old.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet a sports hero, it would definitely be Deion Sanders. He’s my favorite player of all time.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment was Super Bowl 49, when the Patriots beat the Seahawks with a game-winning interception.
