Bishop Gorman’s Star Defensive Tackle: Alijah Carnell
Alijah Carnell is a 2024 recruit who plays Defensive Tackle at Bishop Gorman High School. Carnell is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked among one of the top Defensive Tackles in the class as well. In addition, Carnell is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Nevada and is listed among one of the top Defensive Tackles in the state of Nevada. He currently holds offers from UNLV and Nevada.
Who are some role models in your life?
A role model in my life would be my mom because she works so hard in life and I know she truly cares and wants the best for me. Others would be Coach Cosgrove and Coach Browner. I really look up to them, almost like father figures.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
My favorite artist would be Lucki and my favorite song would have to be “Last time mentioning.” I don’t really get hyped up before a game, I just like to remain calm and focus on my assignments. To me, hype comes during a game.
What are the strengths of your game?
The strength of my game would be being able to destroy the run game and being able to play sideline to sideline, but with this next season I really want to show that I can be a great pass rusher too.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career would be my first sack or eating with the team.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve ever played with would be Jonah Leaea. Like me, he started playing football in the middle of high school and was able to become so dominate in so little time.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
The advice I would give to an aspiring D1 athlete would be to not have that as the goal. It’s impossible to chase something you can’t control, just work on your own game and become the best player you can become.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to go to the Maldives, it looks chill there.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I started playing at 15, but I really fell in love at 16 when I realized I could take football far and that there was so much I could develop in my game.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
It would have to be LeBron or Ouinnen Williams.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment would have to be Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs.
