Bayonne’s Star Freshman Receiver: Bassirou Gueye
Bassirou Gueye is a 2026 recruit who plays Wide Receiver at Bayonne High School. Gueye is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2026 and is ranked among one of the top Wide Receivers in the class as well. In addition, Gueye is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of New Jersey and is listed among one of the top Wide Receivers in the state of New Jersey.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
I started playing football because of Odell Beckham Jr. He was a really big idol of mine and his ideal uniqueness towards the game was what really intrigued me.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Meek Mill or YB
What is your offseason training like?
Well, this year I played 7 on 7 right after the season ended for the whole 9 and that really helped me further up my craft because I had the chance to play guys all around the state and more. Also I was with a coach named Coach P who really helped me throughout this whole offseason, just helping me perfect my craft. I also like attending any camps I get invited to so I can showcase what I know and get better.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory was during last year’s season, when my team won the first playoff game of the season against the team that beat us in the first game of the regular season.
What is your favorite food?
I enjoy eating chicken Alfredo a lot.
When did you realize you were talented at football?
Really just around this year I started to realize how far I could take this. If I started doing this seriously now, I’ll get lots more opportunities and am able to showcase my talents a lot more.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I’d like to meet Odell Beckham Jr, the person who made me start playing this sport in the first place.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My first and favorite sports memory was in 2012 when I was 4 years old. The Giants beat the Patriots to win the Super Bowl and I wasn’t yet a football fan, but that was one of the first things I could remember and I’m glad it was football related.
