
Bastrop’s Star Sophomore Defensive End: Austin Moilan
Austin Moilan is a 2027 recruit who plays Defensive End at Bastrop High School. Moilan is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2027 and is ranked among one of the top Defensive Ends in the class as well. In addition, Moilan is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Texas and is listed among one of the top Defensive Ends in the state of Texas. He currently holds offers from Arizona State, Central Michigan and Jacksonville State.
Who are some role models in your life?
Some role models in my life are my dad and my coach Jay Wilson. They’ve both taught me the value of hard work, staying competitive, and being humble in everything I do.
What artists do you listen to pregame to get hyped up?
Before a game, I get locked in by listening to 21 Savage, Baby Keem, and Key Glock.
What are the strengths of your game?
My biggest strengths are my pass rushing, relentless effort, and physical strength. I take pride in bringing intensity on every snap.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
One of my favorite memories came this past season—late in a game, I was rushing off the edge, shed a block, and lit up the quarterback to force an incomplete pass. That moment sealed the win for us.
Who is the best player you’ve ever played with or against?
The best players I’ve played with are definitely Weston Nielsen and Tiki Hola. Competing and working alongside them has made me better.
What advice would you give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Keep grinding, no matter what. Push through adversity and stay locked in on getting better every day. If you stay consistent, the opportunities will come.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d travel to Alaska. It’s such a beautiful place, and I’d love to explore the wilderness and take it all in.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with football when I was 5 years old, playing in my very first flag football game. I’ve been hooked ever since.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I’d want to meet Micah Parsons. I love the way he plays, and I’d definitely ask him for tips on how to elevate my game.
What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan was being at a Cowboys game and watching Ezekiel Elliott break loose for a 60-yard touchdown.
