Appalachian State’s Next Star Interior Lineman: Scottland Dover

Scottland Dover is a 3 Star recruit who plays Interior Offensive Line at Gaffney High School. Dover is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2026 and is ranked as a top 90 Interior Offensive Lineman in the class as well. In addition, Dover is listed as a top 15 recruit in the state of South Carolina and is listed as the #3 Interior Offensive Lineman in the state of South Carolina. He is committed to play at Appalachian State.

Who are some role models in your life?
My parents and several other family members. They’ve shown me how to persevere through challenges and work hard for what I want.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Believe it or not, I actually listen to Rod Wave before games—it helps soothe my mind and keep me focused.

What are the strengths of your game?
I’m an agile and physical player, especially for my size.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory has to be my first touchdown when I was 10 years old. I recovered a fumble and returned it for a score.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
There are a lot. I’ve played against Julian Lewis, Tyler Atkinson, and Duece Geralds. I’ve also played with Samari Matthews, Rakeith Kelly, and my teammate Jayvon Gilmore.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Keep working hard and always remember to enjoy the game. Having fun is what keeps the passion alive.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I definitely want to travel to Turks and Caicos.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I’d say I was about 9 years old when I really fell in love with football.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
Trent Williams—he’s my favorite player right now.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
Definitely LeBron’s block in the NBA Finals.
