
Northwest’s Star Sophomore: Maddox McGinnis
Maddox McGinnis is a 2027 recruit who plays Interior Offensive Line at Northwest High School. McGinnis is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2027 and is ranked among one of the top Interior Offensive Linemen in the class as well. In addition, McGinnis is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of Kansas and is listed among one of the top Interior Offensive Linemen in the state of Kansas. He currently holds an offer from Iowa State.
Who are some role models in your life?
Some role models in my life are my mom because she has been there with me through all the tough times.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I like to listen to NBA YoungBoy, but you definitely have to listen to First Day Out to get in the right mindset.
What are the strengths of your game?
One of my strengths is my aggressive mentality. If I lock onto a block, I’m going to finish it with a pancake.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
One of my favorite memories is when we beat our little league rivals under the lights. After the game, we hopped on a party bus and celebrated.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with is probably my quarterback, Jaylen Mason. He’s a great guy, a real leader, and very underrated.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
If I could give any advice, I would keep it simple: do the right things when no one is watching and outwork everyone.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would want to go to Cancun. I see all the pro athletes go there, and I love the ocean.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I fell in love with the game as soon as I can remember. I grew up with my dad being a high school O-line coach, and I would go to practice and games as much as I could.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet any sports hero, it would probably be Trent Williams. He’s arguably one of the greatest linemen.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite fan moment had to be when me and my dad went to a Notre Dame game. He’s always loved Notre Dame, and I do too.
