Who are some role models in your life?
My first role model is Jesus. I strive every day to live my life following his example. My other two biggest role models are my mom and my dad. They both have played such key roles making me the young man I am today by lessons and by example.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I love listening to worship music pregame. It kinda grounds me and it’s just my way of dedicating the game to God.. after a while of listening to music I just play white noise and zone in visualizing everything I need to do.
What are the strengths of your game?
I’m athletic, fast, and physical and I am a fast learner. I work hard and I’m coachable.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My career hasn’t been that long. I actually just played my second season of football this year. So really for me my favorite memory so far has been all the times we have long trips where we stay in hotels. The long bus rides are always fun, spending time and playing games with my teammates.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve played with has been my right guard from this past year John Badger. He pushed me every day in practice and made me a better player. He’s graduating this year and I’m gonna miss playing with him.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
My biggest piece of advice would be to advocate for yourself and find a good coach/trainer/mentor that will be honest with you and work hard in helping you get recruited. I have been extremely blessed with the coaches I have around me at TCA. Also, you have to work outside of regular school practice. There’s a lot of things you may have to miss out on because you need to be prioritizing faith, family, school and football. That doesn’t leave you with a lot of free time and you have to be ok with that. You need to have a good understanding of your core values and stand on those when you’re looking at schools. Most importantly, keeping God at the center of your life, because only he can make a way out of no way.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d definitely choose to go to Disney’s Resort in Hawaii.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
As soon as I started playing when I was 16 years old.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I’d have to pick JJ Watt, I’ve been a big fan of his for a while.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
I just love seeing great games. If I had to choose, l’d say most recently watching my (TCA) boys beat a strong San Marcos (basketball) team in the holiday tournament. My guys were scrapping in that game and pulled off a huge upset. It was so fun to watch.
