Orange Lutheran’s Star Freshman Tackle: Samuelu Utu

Samuelu Utu is a 2026 recruit who plays Offensive Tackle at Orange Lutheran High School. Utu is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2026 and is ranked among one of the top Offensive Tackles in the class as well. In addition, Utu is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of California and is listed among one of the top Offensive Tackles in the state of California. He holds offers from schools such as Notre Dame, Michigan and USC.

Who are some role models in your life?

My parents. They love, care and support my dreams and aspirations. I can also say my uncle is someone that motivates me as well.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

When it comes to music, I usually lay pretty low on game day. I tend to find myself listening to something more calm, in my case it’s gospel music. Preferably Kirk Franklin and Tasha Cobbs.

What are the strengths of your game?

The strengths of my game are pass blocking and being able to fire off the ball.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory has definitely got to be my first high school season! One for the books.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

I’ve been playing football since I was 5 and ever since I always played against Jireh Moe! We played together from youth to high school! Every practice would be another battle! Iron sharpens iron and Jireh is exactly that!

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

I would say mental health is a thing! From experience, do not dwell on your mistakes.. just take it and learn from it. You can’t single handedly win a game, so making an error will always be present. Also know that through injury comes doubt, so continue to work through adversity for it makes you stronger! In order to improve in play or anything in life there’s going to be failures.

Watching the Rams beat the Niners.
