The Future Iowa Star: Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves plays Defensive End at Southeast Valley High School. Graves is ranked Top 10 at his position and is a Top 3 recruit in the state of Iowa. In addition, Graves is the #1 Defensive End in Iowa as well. He is committed to play at Iowa.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
I love watching Aaron Donald the way he works along with his grit is very inspiring.
What high school is your biggest rival?
The team we want to beat the most is always south central Calhoun. They always have great athletes so we would love to get a win against them this year.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I listen to rap and 80s rock like AC/DC, Kanye west, and artists like that.
What is your offseason training like?
Ive been working out a place called premier athlete training in ames iowa and I go there 5-6 times a week for lifting, sprint training, jump training, etc.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career?
One of my favorite memories was my freshmen year being able to play on varsity with my brothers and my dad as a coach was one of the greatest blessing I could ask for.
What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?
One of the most important things I can transfer over to college is my work ethic, if I can bring that to college iowa will put me wherever they need me.
What made Iowa stand out from other schools?
I love the culture they’ve built there with coach Ferentz being there for 20+ years he’s built a tradition and an expectation that is very high that I’m excited to be a part of.
What do you want to accomplish on and off the field during your time at Iowa?
My next goal is to play as a freshmen whether that be special teams, offense, or defense. Off the field I hope to reflect what the football program stands for and represent the team well.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one player it’d be JJ Watt he seems like a super awesome guy and is one of the best ends to play the game.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
I can’t say I have a specific moment as a fan but I enjoyed watching the Iowa USC game a lot in how Iowa prepares and did their job that game.
