Rylan Vagana is a 2024 recruit who plays Long Snapper at Mater Dei High School. Vagana is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked as the #1 Long Snapper in the class as well. In addition, Vagana is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of California and is listed as the #1 Long Snapper in the state of California. He currently holds an offer from UPenn.
Who are some role models in your life?
Role models for me are my parents because of their hard work and discipline in everything they do. They are extremely hard workers and great parents for both me and my younger sister.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Artists I like to listen to are Tupac and Biggie.
What are the strengths of your game?
One of the biggest strengths of my game is my versatility. I’m able to play safety, long snapper, and linebacker.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career was being able to play and win a national championship my sophomore year against Servite High School.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve had the honor to play with was my upper classman Josh Hunter. He was extremely smart and helped me learn certain defenses as well as teach me how to lead my fellow teammate.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Some advice I would give to an aspiring D1 athlete is that on somedays it won’t be the greatest day, but you can’t let it hold you down. You need to use it as a learning experience, not a losing experience.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be to Samoa to get to see my heritage and its islands. Also to experience the traditions and see how they were made.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was 6 years old when I fell in love with the game. Just getting to run around and play with friends. Being outside was something I always loved and football ended up being the perfect fit.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet any sports hero I would want to meet Ed Reed. I loved watching him play.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan, was watching Mater Dei football games with my dad and getting to see the future high school that I was going to.
